I am very pleased with this unit. It was just as described when I uncrated it. The installation was simple and the unit is very effective in my crawl space area. My crawl space is about 2100 sq. ft. with an approx.3.5 fi heigth. The unit started cycling on and off with an approx. humidity of 45% after 2 or 3 days.

LOVE IT. Everthing dried out perfectly. We're hoping this will make our winemaking basement perfect. The best thing I've bought this year. The price was great(800 dollars less than what my heating and cooling people wanted.) THANK YOU

Very well made unit for basements
We decided to take a chance and buy this after going through 3 dehumidifiers in roughly 3 years that were bought from Lowe’s and Home Depot. Those dehumidifiers seem to basically last through their warranty period and then go kaput. They either start freezing up or the compressor just stops doing anything. So the 5 year warranty was a big discriminator for us.
Let me tell you that this April Aire 1710A appears to be the Optimus Prime of dehumidifiers! It lowered the humidity of our 1300 sq ft 9 ft ceiling basement from 65% to 48% in 24 hours. It is larger, heavier and much sturdier than the plastic cased cheapo units mentioned above. Although heavier, it’s quite easy to push around and the wheels lock so it doesn’t walk all over the place like the other ones did. It is somewhat noisier than the other units probably because its compressor & fan are larger; it’s 90 pints/day vs. 70 for the largest of the big box store brands. As far as the noise is concerned: it is not so noisy that it bothers us in any way when we go to the basement to work or exercise.
We haven’t had the unit for very long but we’ll post an update if there are any problems. So far we are very pleased.

Very pleased homeowner
This dehumidifier is very easy to setup. It works great. It dropped my humidity from 63 to 46 percent. It is a little heavy but it is on wheels so you can push it to its final destination. I am very pleased with this purchase.
